Certified Welding Inspector
The Quality Control Inspector will perform quality inspections on poles and other structural components in accordance with customer specifications, Nello specifications and nationally recognized standards.
Current AWS CWI D1.1 certification required.
High School education or GED.
Five (5) years of experience in welding (Gas metal arc welding (GMAW), Submerged arc welding (SAW)) and inspection in a manufacturing facility required.
Knowledge of various NDT methods preferred. - especially ultrasonic shearwave and magnetic particle testing - preferred.
Inspect layout and weld quality on production. Observe and monitor production operations and equipment to ensure conformance to specifications and make or order necessary process or assembly adjustments. Perform visual weld inspections and dimensional inspections and interpreting and evaluating the results of these inspections. Notify supervisors and other personnel of production problems, and assist in identifying and correcting these problems. Lead Weld Qualification by Testing activities. Aid in the development and implementation of Weld Procedure Specifications. Administer the pre-qualification weld tests and qualify welders to established weld procedures. Knowledgeable in welding fabrication processes – particularly GMAW and SAW. Ability to read and interpret production drawings, specifications, weld symbols, and codes. Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to troubleshoot and make continuous improvements; apply engineering principals to analyze and evaluate data. Self-starter with ability to work with minimal supervision. Acceptable prior performance, safety, and attendance record.
