Description:
The Bay Helper is responsible for assisting in the loading, unloading, organization, and preparation of materials and products within the bay area of a warehouse or shipping facility. This role involves operating cranes, as well as grinding and cutting materials when necessary, to ensure the safe handling, storage, and readiness of products for distribution. The Bay Helper will play an essential role in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the bay area while supporting the smooth operation of warehouse activities.
M-F: 5am - 3:30 PM
Saturday: 5:00 am - 1:30 pm
Qualifications:
Previous experience in a warehouse or shipping environment, including operating cranes or using grinding and cutting tools, is preferred. Crane certification is a plus but can be obtained on the job.
Responsibilities:
· Assist in loading and unloading materials and products from trucks, containers, and shelves within the bay area.
· Operate cranes to safely move heavy materials and products within the bay, ensuring proper handling and storage.
· Use grinders and cutting tools to prepare materials, cut metal, or smooth surfaces as required for specific projects or orders.
· Organize and store materials according to inventory procedures, ensuring items are easily accessible and properly stacked.
· Inspect products for damage or defects and report any issues to the supervisor or appropriate team members.
· Assist in staging and preparing goods for shipment or delivery to customers.
· Operate basic material handling equipment such as pallet jacks or forklifts under supervision or training.
· Help maintain an organized and clean work area in the bay, adhering to all safety and cleanliness guidelines.
· Ensure all materials and products are correctly labeled and stored in the appropriate locations.
· Assist in inventory tracking and maintaining accurate records of stock in the bay area.
· Perform minor maintenance on tools and equipment, reporting any malfunctioning or unsafe tools to supervisors.
