Purchasing Generalist
Description:
To provide support to Purchasing Department with specific responsibility for implementing purchasing activities in compliance with mandated requirements; overseeing daily activities; responding to a range of inquiries regarding processes or bid status; and achieving department objectives and goals within budget. 
 
Qualifications:
Education and Experience
Minimum requirements: Bachelors or Associates Degree in business preferred.  Two (2) years’ experience in purchase required.  Knowledge in project scheduling, purchasing, and shipping required to meet due dates.  MRP & Microsoft Office proficient.

Responsibilities:
Compiles data from a variety of sources to be used to analyze issues, ensure compliance with a variety of purchasing policies and procedures, and/or monitoring purchasing processes.  Issues purchase orders.  Review order and bid documentation to ensure proper use of funds in the acquisition of supplies, equipment and/or services.  Evaluate vendors to determine their capability for performing to established specifications.  Maintain purchasing information, files, and records to ensure the availability of documentation and compliance with established policies.  Negotiate with vendors to resolve purchasing issues and/or ensure purchases are within budget.  Oversee orders, work orders, requisitions for supplies, equipment, bids for potential commodities, and services for the purpose of acquiring necessary resources to support company operations.  Process purchasing-related information (e.g. bid documents, tabulations, requisitions, electronic procurement, product specifications, statements of work, performance terms, contracts, etc.) for the purpose of updating and distributing information, authorizing for action and/or complying with established accounting practices.  Research contracts, suppliers, equipment, and regulations, including evaluation of new products for the purpose of ensuring compliance with budgetary guidelines.  Respond to inquiries by providing information, directions and/or appropriate referrals.  Perform other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
